Deltec Racing Team
Deltec Racing Team is owned by Marius van Wyk. The outfit is based in Cape Town, South Africa. Deltec Racing was founded in 2005. Our vision has always been to give young and aspiring drivers an opportunity to make a success driving in Online Virtual Racing.
Early Years
Deltec Racing Team has its roots in 2004 with the late Antonio Racing Team. In 2005 Deltec Racing Team joined the Formula SimRacing (FSR) League. As a 1st time rookie, Marius finished 2nd in the Pro75 FSR (Offline) World Series. We continued in 2006 in FSR, having 2 teams in the field. Also in 2006, we were approached by Armaroli Simulators Brazil to be the seat holder for Team South Africa in the Armaroli ASRWC WC Series. We agreed. Together with Zaahir Essa and Craig Hattingh, Team South Africa finished 2nd in the ASRWC Series.
2007 saw the best result for the Deltec Racing and sister team Deltec Springbok Racing Team in FSR with a 4th and 8th place season finish. Riaan van der Westhuizen, Ken Hunter & Hendrich van Rensburg were amongst the regular drivers. 2008 was the last year Deltec Racing participated in the FSR Series.
2014 & 2015
2014 Deltec Racing joined the prestigious GPVWC League in the World Sports Series, using the Porsche Flat6 GT cars. It proved a very tough year for us, specially after 6 years of non-competitive racing! Deltec Racing showed they have the focus and mindset to accomplish any task, especially the 24hr Le Mans Event! We finished the magical 300 laps on Le Mans! In 2015 Deltec Racing Team entered into the 2015 Formula Challenge series. This is an exciting year as we have grown from 2014. We also secured the driver services of Stephane Rouault and Adam Ozgur. Denis Mitchell started the 2015 campaign until the Hungarian Grand Prix. Stephane Rouault replaced Denis from the Belgium Grand Prix till end of the season. Klaidas Vareika was chosen as early reserve driver, where Stefan McCready succeeded him. Niels Vos was replaced by Michael Barnard as official reserve driver. Deltec Racing Team finished 11th in the 2015 GPVWC Formula Challenge Constructors Championships with a total of 131 points.
2016
Deltec Racing are once again on the GPVWC 2016 Formula Challenge grid. Stephane Rouault with new driver Michael Barnard joining alongside him, replacing Aidan Polson mid-through as primary driver. Wesley Stefano steps in as reserve driver for the remainder of the season. Deltec Racing finished 2nd in the Formula Challenge Championships with a total of 498 points.
2017
Deltec Racing are back on grid in the GPVWC SuperCup Series. James Johnson joins Stephane Rouault as primary drivers, with Johan Lindberg as reserve. Deltec also competes in the WCS League, under the Formula3 and BMW E90 series. We hope to do good!
